Pacquiao-Spence meet at pre-fight press con to officially announce fight

Eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and unified – WBC and IBF
welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr., met for the first time before their much
anticipated bout to officially announce that their fight is on.
The pre-fight press conference was spearheaded by Premier Boxing Champions and
was a pay-per-view.
During the press con, Floyd Mayweather’s name was brought up as Spence admitted
that the unbeaten boxer has been reaching out to him to help him and mentor him.
“He talks to me and things like that. He tries to mentor me, so he’ll definitely reach out. If
says he’ll reach out, he definitely will,” Spence said via BoxingScene.
On the other hand, the 42-year Filipino great compared Spence to Mayweather saying
that his 31-year old opponent is better than Mayweather.
He even threw shades on his former rival.
“He could teach Mayweather how to fight toe-to-toe,” he said.
At the end, both fighters acknowledged the power and strength of each other as they
brace for an all-out war come August 21. Pacquiao will be the challenger as he lost his
belt due after not fighting for a certain period of time while Spence will defend his belt on
the biggest fight of his boxing career.

Manny Pacquiao shows love to Fil-Am Jalen Green after being drafted 2 nd overall in NBA Draft

Another historic day for the Philippines as another player with Filipino roots made it to
the NBA, well the most hype ever.
Filipino-American Jalen Green was picked second overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the
Houston Rockets. He joined reigning Sixth Man of the Year from the Utah Jazz Jordan
Clarkson and Raymond Townsend as the only Filipinos to make it to the NBA.
The highly touted rookie received a lot of congratulations on his big day and one of
them is the eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.
Pacquiao turned to Twitter to express his excitement for Green.
“Congratulations to @JalenGreen on getting drafted #2 overall. Looking forward to
watching your journey to becoming a superstar.”
Green has been to the Philippines twice as he participated to the National Basketball
Training Center commonly known as the NBTC. He easily captivated the Pinoy hearts
with his leaping abilities to lead to monster slams and unlimited highlights.
But despite his stardom, Green is also a huge of Pacquiao. Weeks before the draft, he
personally visited Pacquiao, not in the Wild Card Gym but in Fox Studio where they held
the kickoff pressconference for the Pacquiao-Errol Spence fight.
He then got the chance to take a photo with Pacquiao along with his belt.

Pacquiao reveals why he didn’t fight McGregor

It was teased several times, it made progress and everybody was expecting it is going
to happen, but it didn’t. Now, Manny Pacquiao answered the question ‘why’ he didn’t
pursue the fight with UFC superstar Conor McGregor.
The blockbuster fight was sure of being a head-turner and with the Filipino icon recently
signing under the same management with McGregor everybody thought this is about to
go down.
Pacquiao’s answer was simple:
‘For me, money will follow but my concern is the fans, how to make the fans happy. I
don’t pick a non-boxer opponent. I want to pick the very best. So that we can claim that
we are the best,” said Manny Pacquiao,” he said in an interview with The Schmo
This comment provided another shade to his rival Floyd Mayweather who fought
McGregor in 2017 and earned tons of dollars from it.
Nonetheless, it is less of a concern to Pacquiao as he now shift his focus on defeating
the unbeaten and prime Errol Spence Jr. for the unified welterweight belts.

Less than a month before his title defense, Casimero was still not in top shape.

John Riel Casimero has yet to reach his old form with less than a month away from his WBO bantamweight title defense against Guillermo Rigondauex.

One of Manny Pacquiao’s trainers, Nonoy Neri, was the one who revealed the status of the Filipino champion.

“I can feel the impact of his (Casimero’s) punches, but his speed is still wanting,” he said in Silvervoice TV and was reported by Rappler.

Casimero’s last fight was on September 20, 2020, where he defeated Duke Micah via TKO. According to Neri, he is not out for that long, but his conditioning seemingly dropped as his current state is at 80%.

However, the camp is not worried as they are planning to do lighter pieces of training as the fight day comes closer in able for Casimero to regain his speed.

“Punching and punching won’t be enough. It is not just a contest of strength. Speed is necessary,” Neri added. It can be remembered that Casimero failed to cash in the possible fight with fellow Filipino Nonito Donaire earlier this month.
